Sinister Lodestone is a research option found under the Eldritch tab that becomes available for research after researching Opening the Eye, along with being an item. The only use of Sinister Lodestone is to seek out Eldritch Obelisks, as, when one is faced and the player is in range, the Lodestone will light up in the player's hand, leading them in the direction of the Obelisk. If not held in the hand, however, it has no function. The Thaumonomicon states that the reason this works is that a special energy, detectable even before its opening, is emitted from the spot where the portal during the aforementioned ritual, Opening the Eye, is opened. Because of this, it can be tracked by the player if said player has a way to detect this energy. Sinister Lodestone is created via Infusion by Infusing a piece of flint with an Order and Entropy Shard, a piece of Nitor and a Knowledge Fragment, along with 8 Tenebrae, Alienis, Auram and Sensus Essentia. The recipe is classified as being of Moderate Instability. Sinister Lodestone cannot be stacked.

The Infusion recipe for Sinister Lodestone, as shown in the Thaumonomicon.
