A section of partially Tainted Land. Please note and excuse the use of a texture pack.

Overview[]

Tainted Land is land that, as the name implies, has been tainted. Tainted Land can be created intentionally using the Bottle of Taint, or unintentionally by leaving the effects of Flux that has manifested itself untreated. An example of this would be Flux goo. By leaving a puddle of Flux goo unattended, it can dissipate, not only putting Flux back into the Aura, but also leaving behind Fibrous Taint. Fibrous Taint is the actual cause of Tainted Land outside of the Bottle of Taint. Although not immediately, Fibrous Taint will eventually, if it is allowed to remain, Taint the block it rests on, changing that block into a Tainted Land biome, and eventually turning the block itself into its tainted variant. If this is allowed to happen, the Taint can then spread indefinitely, as Fibrous Taint can spread from Tainted blocks and infect and Taint the blocks under and around it, causing it to spread quickly.

Dangers[]

Many creatures in Tainted Land can themselves become Tainted, causing even passive mobs to become twisted, hostile versions of themselves. Crops are also destroyed by taint, and Fibrous Taint can confer Taint Poison for 5 seconds and deal approximately 2.5 hearts of damage total over tat period of time. Essentially, unless cured, Tainted Land is useless in the sense of productivity and habitability, and quite dangerous to traverse unless prepared. However, the aspect of Vitium is otherwise very difficult to come across, making Tainted Land a good and reliable source of Tainted items. This means that one should still be very careful in allowing their creation and spread, as, although it has its uses, Tainted Land is otherwise completely undesirable, as in addition to being extremely dangerous, it is, to most, not aesthetically pleasing.

Mobs[]

Taintacle[]

The Taintacle is an approximately 3 bock tall stationary mob with 25 hearts of health that can attack in two separate ways, by burrowing taint tendrils through the ground to do 1.5 hearts of damage, or with a melee attack within a 3 block radius of itself, which deals 5 hearts of damage. They are tall and imposing, often writhing in the air, making them easy to see and avoid, even against the purple background afforded by Tainted Lands. They can spawn anywhere on Tainted Soil and may drop Taint Tendrils or Taint Goo upon dying. They can spawn in any light level on Tainted Soil and may drop Tainted Goo or a Taint Tendril upon dying.
